LET'S GET Acquainted

While journeying through an arduous life, I soon realized the importance of sharing all of the experiences, lessons, and hardships that shaped me into the woman I am today. Reason being - I was never surrounded with the realistic practices that most people were, making it sometimes difficult for me to accept my mistakes or recognize my strengths. With that being said, I made it a priority to create a space to radiate true transparency, openness, and limpidity - and so I welcome you to my all-encompassing lifestyle blog.

MY Dreams VS. MY Purpose

This may come as a surprise, but my dream wasn’t always to become the powerhouse entrepreneur I am today.  In actuality, I didn’t realize my true purpose and dreams until my early 30’s.

After graduating from the University of Guelph-Humber and earning a Bachelor of Commerce, I was eager to dive into my career in Accounting. Shortly after, I began working for a renowned company, where I was promoted to the VP of Finance in a compendious amount of time. Before I knew it, I was responsible for streamlining new processes, managing budgeting, and conducting financial workshops. At this point of my life, I was positive that my purpose remained within the financial field, however I was mistaken. It wasn’t until I was delegated the role of being the company’s Event Planner that I realized that I not only had a passion for fabricating experiences, but I was an exceptional Experience Curator. Instantly, I became passionate in creating moments for my community, and providing what it was that was missing from it.

My leading ideas bounced from curating wedding and corporate experiences, to creating an environment that would specifically allow women to feel inspired to follow their passions, be mentored, and to network while building themselves.

Looking back now, I'm so grateful for nurturing my initial thoughts of creating my Creative Event Agency,

Leigh Event Group and my empowering community for women, We Rise Experience.  In those moments, I instantaneously realized that I had finally found my true life purpose.

Now that I’m able to find the humour in prior adversities, I can honestly say that each obstacle I’ve encountered in life has become a blessing down the line, however there are a couple that deserve a highlight.

When most hear that I was a single-teenage mom, it’s normally followed with “How did you manage?” or “That must have been so difficult”. Rightfully so, at the time I didn’t know how I would manage and it was very challenging ,but my unwavering determination to be a mother to my first born could be proud of coinciding with my relationship with God is what kept me going. I learned early on that in order to thrive and not only survive, I would have to apply the patience, accountability, and impenetrable relentlessness I learned during motherhood, to all aspects of my life.

I was able to combat the hardships and obstacles that I was later encountered with down the road. Regardless of the struggles and sacrifices I had to endure during my tough times, I refuse to allow all that I’ve personally been through to reflect the strength of who I am. Hardships or no hardships - my power, strength, and determined dynamic has always been by my side with intentions to always remain.

Unexpected BLESSINGS

On a normal workday, while I’m running on pure enthusiasm, one of my greatest talents is being able to multitask. As much as I love to devote my undivided attention to one thing at a time, I find thrill in being able to juggle multiple tasks and still exceed my expectations every time. This hidden talent of mine makes me feel more productive, focused, and eager to get more done on a time crunch.

When I’m not pulling the logistics and design components together for an event or mentoring clients, you would probably find me on the next flight out - preferably to my favorite vacation spot, Miami. I adore travelling, just as much as I adore exploring new cities, wine & dining at all the best restaurants, and sourcing my surroundings for all the best fashion finds! Oh, and we can’t forget about grabbing brunch with some girlfriends - it’s an understatement to say that those couple hours help to keep me sane!

After a busy work week, I will ensure to never deprive myself of the wind down I know I deserve. To reward myself for all the hustling during the week, I am keen on changing into something super comfortable, relaxing out on my sofa with a cozy blanket, and binge watching all my favourite shows and movies. However, when staying in isn’t the motive, you may find me dining at new, exotic restaurants in the city, thrifting my heart away at local shops, or indulging in my favourite glasses of wine. To me, there is nothing more satisfying than supporting local small businesses, or shopping from consignment stores - I am obsessed!
