Scared to Go Full Time?

Let’s keep it 100%. What happens when you’ve realized you don’t love your job anymore and the urge to do something new is taking over. How do you leave a secure paying full-time job and pursue your dream of starting your own business?

The answer isn’t as simple as you’d like it to be because you have bills to pay, mouths to feed, and a multitude of responsibilities all funded by your current full-time job.

Leaving your full-time job can sound very scary, but it doesn’t have to be. I’m not here to convince you to quit your job right now. I’m here to break you free from the shackles of fear and provide the best tips to efficaciously leave the job that no longer serves you. Through experience, I’ve learned the main reasons why we wait to begin any of the critical tasks towards starting a passion fueled business are due to one of two reasons; you feel as if you don’t have the means to start or you’re afraid that it won’t work out and you’ll fail at it. Those two reasons are excuses disguised as the “reality of the situation”, when in reality 90% of entrepreneurs don’t have an abundance of money before they start their own business or can guarantee that they won’t meet failure along the journey.

Yes, failure can feel frightening and uncomfortable, but I can assure you that it isn’t life-threatening. I, too, was once hesitant when it came to taking the leap but there are ways to through these obstacles we’ve created in our minds.

1. Prepare to Succeed and Work Towards Changing Your Attitude Towards Failure

Start by redefining your definition of failure. Most of the reasoning behind many of our fears stems from us fearing that we will look foolish, do something wrong, or just not meet the expectations we’ve set. Instead of approaching a task with an avoidance mindset, try approaching your task with the expectation of learning something new. When you’re challenged with a tough task and you expect it to be difficult, there is a chance that you will set goals around what you want to avoid rather than what you’d hope to achieve. Prepare to succeed. Tell yourself that regardless of the outcome, I will not let it deter me from WINNING and doing what is required to become the entrepreneur I’m destined to be.

2. Find a Coach to Help You on Your Journey.

Believe it or not, there are people that have been through what you’re going through and want to help you navigate through it. A coach will help you see the bigger picture by assisting with setting short-term, long-term goals, and formulating goals. As an entrepreneur and business coach myself, Independence is instilled in me. Oftentimes as Independent women, we think we’ve seen and heard it all but, what is our business transforms, so do you. I’ve learned that having a coach can help you channel all of your undiscovered potential, help you take an idea, break it down, create a blueprint that plans out how to make it happen, and create significant long-term business and personal growth.

3. Spend time with people who have already made the transition to feel inspired and grow your confidence that you can do it.

For those who know me, know that my circle is very small. I learned very early on that the people we surround ourselves with are the biggest influence on our behavior, attitudes and results. Who you’re around, what they’ve got you thinking, saying, doing and becoming will set the course of your everyday life. There will be people that hold you back and there will also be people that will propel you forward. Accepting the reality of that and dealing it with is what is going to push you forward. You can’t hang out with negative people and expect a positive life. The goal is to actively construct your business, social and personal environment. Don’t let your past relationships with people or comfortability keep you stagnant. Instead, take the time to consciously plan which opinions, attitudes, ideologies you will and will not allow to exist in your life.

4. You only have one life, so live it!

We’ve all heard this statement before. However, take a moment to ask yourself how have you actively applied it to your everyday life? We so often get super inspired in the moment, but unconsciously revert back to the comfort of our everyday lives because obviously it’s easier said than done. Trust me, I was right there with you.

Answer this…. if your entire life were put into a movie or book to be read back to you, what would you want to hear? Would you be proud of the paths you chose? Would you read your story and without a doubt relive it all over again because you chose to challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone? If your answer isn’t, HELL YES, then honey, you have some changes to make. Write down your goals. Create a vision board. Find your Business Coach. Small changes are still progress. Don’t overwhelm yourself but thinking you have to have it all figured out right away. Choose you the life you want and make a plan to make it happen.
