The Real Mompreneurs of Toronto

Let’s take it back a bit, if you were to hear about a woman being a full time mom AND

entrepreneur simultaneously, as early as 20 years ago, many would be amused that one may

think it’s even possible to achieve that especially with all the duties that each role entails.

Right? Well, once upon a time, I too doubted that I would be able to do both, because of what I

was hearing from the people around me. First thing I learned, in order for me to achieve my

goal was that I had to start surrounding myself with like minded individuals and feed my mental

with the knowledge and tools that propelled my ascension into the role. During this imperative and significant transition in my life, I actually met the love of my life Kevin, who has been one of the most supporting partners, I could ever dream of but I’ll save that love story for another time,

lol. However, I do want you guys to know that having a supportive partner has truly helped me

on this journey.

In this blog, I wanted to be very intentional when sharing my stories and tips considering these

were the fundamental ideals I incorporated into my life to start and maintain my goal of being

an extraordinary mom AND entrepreneur.

First things first, If you’ve met me, you know that producing is my passion. Hands down, I know

that mentally I would not be able to execute as consistently and proficiently if I didn’t

absolutely love what I did. Mind you, I am still human so I’m not perfect but knowing that I’m

doing my best and giving each task 100%, I’m confident in labeling each day as a win.

Another key for me is COMPARTMENTALIZING. I believe that in order for you to perform

optimally on each task or project, you have to be completely present in the role. When I am

working, I make sure that the only things visible to me and surrounding me are work related.

My office doors stay closed, planner open, the tabs on my browsers are strictly relative to work

tasks, leaving very little to no room for distractions. When I’m spending time with my family, I

set aside a specific amount of time or time of day to give entirely to my family. This way I also

give myself a break from having to continuously multitask all the time, which also prevents me

from burning out mentally. Let this tip be a reminder to you as it is to me that daily, we should

normalize taking a moment each day to enjoy every moment both at work and with the family

because ultimately that’s what it’s all about.

As a full time mompreneur, knowing your limits is like the appetizer to compartmentalizing.

Taking the time to really think about how much time I needed to be alone or how much time I

need outside of work and kids, really contributed to me not burning out while juggling multiple

businesses, clients, and a full house. Prioritizing my mental limits has been a huge deal for me

solely because when you burn out both your job and family can suffer.

Ultimately, I want you all to know that being a full time mom and entrepreneur is damn hard

and I did not start out knowing a secret formula to this but deciding how you’re going to make

it work is what propelled me forward every single day. “The only way to achieve the impossible

is to believe it is possible.”
